Joe is the CEO of The Global Orphan Project (GO Project), a global orphan care and orphan prevention ministry – goproject.org.
GO Project works in multiple states in the U.S., operating the national CarePortal platform – www.careportal.org – and internationally with offices in Haiti, East Africa, India, and Lebanon. GO Project also owns and operates multiple businesses to create jobs that keep families together. The largest such business is GOEX – www.goex.org – a living wage apparel enterprise wholly owned by GO Project with manufacturing operations in Haiti and the urban core of Kansas City. GO Project – through its ministry operations, partnerships, and businesses – supports more than 1,200 daily jobs, from care providers, to teachers, to farmers, to apparel workers.
Before his tenure at GO Project, Joe was a labor and employment attorney in Kansas City. After graduating from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1996, Joe became an attorney at Husch & Eppenberger (now Husch Blackwell). In 2003, Joe and Paul Seyferth co-founded Seyferth Knittig (now Seyferth, Blumenthal, and Harris), a labor and employment boutique in KC.
Joe has dealt with employment and many other forms of human conflict in the courtroom and in some of the most difficult environments in the world. He has developed a deep passion for both job creation and the personal dignity of work for the individual.
As time and travel permit, Joe moonlights with a small mediation practice to help local employers and employees resolve disputes.
Joe K and Joe E met as adversaries in multiple employment cases, and developed a mutual professional respect and personal friendship in the process. They’ve chosen to partner together in a mediation practice to offer the market a unique collective experience.
